Minjerribah (North Stradbroke Island)
An incredibly beautiful cliffside walk to a series of gorges, with ocean views and wildlife a plenty, from kangaroos to whales, dolphins and manta rays.
This heavily trafficked walk starts from the car park on Mooloomba Road in Point Lookout.
The walk is an easy stroll around the headland along graded paths and wooden boardwalks, shared with the local kangaroos, with incredible views to the Pacific Ocean.
The walk rounds the headland down to North Gorge, where waves crash in and out.
A number of vantage points on the rocky headland, as well as wooden lookouts, provide views into the gorge and out to the ocean.
The walk offers a number of perfect locations for spotting whales (during the season – June to November), as well as dolphins, sea turtles and manta rays all year round.
The walk continues to South Gorge, with views to the Surf Life Saving Club perched on the headland, as well as down to Main Beach.
Note that while it is unsafe to swim in North Gorge, due to currents, South Gorge often offers more peaceful conditions suitable for swimming.
The short walk can then be doubled-back to the starting point to take in the beauty once more, or a short walk up the road if short on time.
Track: A wooden staircase and wide beach. While unsigned, the walk is easy to follow.
Difficulty: The track is an easy stroll and is suitable for all fitness levels, however does involve a large set of stairs.
Direction: This is an out-and-back track that returns the way it came, or can be shortened to make a loop by finishing along the road.
getting there
The trail starts from the car park on Mooloomba Road (opposite the shops) in Point Lookout on Minjerribah (North Stradbroke Island). The trail is located 25 minutes drive north-east of the Dunwich ferry terminal.
Minjerribah (North Stradbroke Island) is located about 50kms east of Brisbane and is accessed via ferry from Cleveland (45 minutes drive east of Brisbane). A standard vehicle is sufficient for visiting the majority of Minjerribah, including this walk.
Parking is ample, however the walk can be very busy, especially on weekends, so it can fill up.
best time to go
The walk can be completed year-round.

This means: dispose of your waste properly, don't remove things or move things from their natural position and respect all wildlife.
