Lamington National Park (Binna Burra)
A short version of the Coomera Circuit that takes you to Coomera and Yarrabilgong Falls and back, for those short on time.
This moderately trafficked walk starts from the upper carpark trailhead of the Binna Burra section of Lamington National Park, at the very end of Binna Burra Road.
The well-marked trail begins along the Border Track, before branching off and following signs for Coomera Circuit.
The walk starts in typical Border Track rainforest, before skirting along the top of the gorge where the flora undergoes a number of changes.
There is a rocky outcrop to the right with views into the gorge, shortly before arriving at the lookout over Coomera and Yarrabilgong Falls.
Once you are finished at the falls, simply retrace your steps back to the starting point.
Track: Graded and relatively well-signed, making it easy to follow. The descent and ascent into and out of the forest is via a number of gradual switchbacks.
Difficulty: Although a shorter version of the Coomera Circuit, the track still requires a moderate level of fitness.
Direction: This is an out-and-back track that returns the way you came.
getting there
The walk is located in the Binna Burra section of Lamington National Park, at the very end of Binna Burra Road in Binna Burra, 1.5 hours drive south of Brisbane.
The walk starts from the upper car park trailhead, at the very end of the car park, near the Binna Burra Tea House.
Parking is ample.
best time to go
The walk can be completed year-round.
Like all walks involving waterfalls, they are best done after recent rain. While there are no major creek crossings if only going to Coomera Falls, be sure to still check the Queensland Parks website for updates regarding flooding and track closures.
Remember, whenever venturing into the outdoors, practice the Leave No Trace principles and be considerate of others. This means: dispose of your waste properly, don't remove things or move things from their natural position and respect all wildlife. Also be sure to plan ahead and adequately prepare for any adventure.
